BIRTHDAY PARTY WRAP UP

Come on in an enjoy the party.  Little Sister colored this picture to decorate the front door for her party

The girls and I worked on this banner as our homeschool craft project for the week.  We cut out circles from scrapbook paper and flowers from a book.  Then we distresses the circles, flowers and cupcake liners with brown paint.  Up next we followed this awesome tutorial from the wonderfully talented Kim at Twice Remembered.  The only thing I did different was change the color of glitter.  After everthing dried we glued it together and ran a ribbon through.

We made these sweet birds nest out of the book pages.  One style was with shreeded pages soked in watered down craft glue molded to the outside bottom of an bowl.  The other style was made with three circle cut out of the pages dipped into the water-glue mix and placed over lapping on the bottom of a smaller bowl.  Then it took two days for them to dry out so that we could take them off.

We made Rice Krispey treat nest, with jellybean eggs and peeps for goody bags.  With the left over Rice Krispey treats we made a large nest.

I made the cake and added this cool edible easter grass to make a nest and added a cute bird.

Little Sister loved her party and I loved watching how excited she was over everything.  Thanks for letting me share with you.

SHE'S SEVEN

My Baby turned seven today, where has time gone.  I remember holding her for the first time and falling head over heals in love with her.  She is full of life and has a personality big enough to fill any room.  She is full of spunk and sass, but more than anything she is full of love.  To be loved by her is to be loved boldly and with great passion, she does not feel things lightly, she feels them to the core of her being and the world around her knows exaclty what she is feeling.  To make her smile brings happiness to your day and her desire to make you smile shows the true JOY she has in her heart.  Her joy comes from the love she has for her Savior and she will gladly tell you about Him, you don't even have to ask, it just spills out of her with out a thought.  She is my gift from God and I treasure her.

A SPOON AND A FORK

So, have you ever had an idea rolling around in your head.  One that you weren't sure that other people would understand.

I have had an idea like that for awhile.  I have wanted a huge fork and spoon and  I finally got the nerve up to do something about it.  I searched on Ebay for a couple of weeks until just the right set came up for auction, when they did I snatched them up.  On a side note if you sale something on Ebay, please be kind enough to take the 50 cent yard sale sticker off the back before you ship it.  Please.  I am all for you making a profit, but you don't have to rub it in.

So aren't they beautiful, I know you are jealous, aren't you.
Don't worry, I have a plan.

Don't they look better,  amazing what a little black spray paint can do.

After the spray paint, Sweet Daddy built a frame for them.  Then, I got busy painting and this is what I ended up with. So what do you think?

Spring Mantle

I don't know about you lovelies, but I am aching for Spring to get

here.

I long to feel the warmth of the sunshine beating down on my face.

So using the SUN as my inspiration, I created a spring mantle.

Forsythia's are my favorite Spring flowers.

I used the same bird pattern on this as I used here

After I cut the birds out, I added detail with a Sharpie.

I glued the birds in a frame that I already had, I just gave it a quick

coat of paint.

I used strips of scrapbook paper to add intrest to these cream

candles.

So, for the cost of two pieces of scrapbook paper and a spool of

ribbon I was able to bring the sunshine inside.

Birthday Party Inspiration

Little Sister's birthday is coming up soon.  I had been trying to come up with an idea for it, when I got the

 wonderful package from Susie.

Suddenly I knew the theme...

Vintage Birds

Little Sister loves birds and has collected feathers for years, so it made perfect sense.

The first thing we did was transform the dining room chandelier.

The girls and I cut birds out of  book pages and scrapbook paper.

Next, we used some brown paint to add detail and  age to them.

Then a little glue and glitter and we had the...

beginnings of a vintage bird birthday party.

We have many more plans for this party and I will be sharing them over the next few weeks.

Beautiful Inspiration

So last week I broke my tooth and was sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.  Then the mailman came and dropped off a package.

Humm, who could this be from?

I know who it is from and it is going to be good.

Look at the attention to detail,  this is a sweet hand written note.

Now, just look at the sweet little things, they are such a sweet surprise.  They are also the inspiration for a

birthday party I am planning.  Thank you Susie.

(I'll start sharing the birthday party details soon)

Ahh, my day has been made.

Have you figured at who it is from yet?  If you guessed the amazingly talented, super sweet Susie Harris you

 would be correct.

A couple of days before she had listed a few things she was adding to her shop and I couldn't email her fast

enough to ask for this one.

I knew I was in love with this sweet little bird even before I had her in my hands.

Don't you just love the little bow on her backside?

Her new home is hanging from the lamp that is beside "my chair'.

If you would like to have one of these beauties arrive at your door go over to Susie's shop and order yourself

one, I promise it will make your day.

Thanks Susie, you are the best.

I am participating in One Thousand Gifts at A Holy Experience.  To find out more go here.

I am thankful for:

1.  a ten year old who turns to see my reaction to watching a mother get to hold her baby for the first time.

2.  a six year old who still has squishy little girl fingers even though everything else seems to be growing faster than I can keep up with.

3.  children who think I have a beautiful voice to sing with.

4.  children who want me to sing hymns to them.

5.  hot coffee on cool morning.

calla lilies and roses

I wanted to share what I have been working on this week.  Remember the Dollar Store candle makover I made for my friends wedding?

You can read more about the Dollar Store makeover here.

The wedding is getting closer so, I played around with the design for the bridesmaid bouquets.  This is what I came up with.

The Bridesmaid dresses are black with a delicate pink ribbon.

The creamy white of the calla lillies and roses just pop against the black.

And the vintage button adds an extra touch of elegance.

Such beauty, can't wait until I can do them all and the brides bouquet.  For now I am enjoying this one on my dinning room table.

IS IT TOO EARLY?

So do you lovelies think it is too early to bring out the Easter decorations?

This sweet little guy is by far my favorite cookie jar.  He comes out early and stays late, He get more time on the counter than any of the other cookie jars.

I hope you are have a great week.
