I have had an idea floating around in this crazy head of mine for a couple of years.
Finally, I have gotten busy and started working on it.
You see it all started when I was looking through my recipes one day and found I had a recipe card from each of my grandmothers and one from Hubby's Granny.
I knew they could NOT just continue to live closed up in a recipe book.
But I wasn't sure what to do with them.
Well, I wasn't sure until my sweet friend (more about that here) move to SoCal and brought me a huge stack of empty frames.
Suddenly, I knew what I wanted to do with them.
I got busy painting the frames the same color as my kitchen cabinets.
Found some pretty scrapbook paper
Glued it to the frame backs and then glued the recipes onto that.
Put the frames back together and this is what I have
I love how each of the recipe cards are different.
I thought I knew exactly where I was going to hang these
but........................
that of course has changed now,
so I can not show you the finished product yet
because I have more to do.
More frames to paint
more scrapbook paper to buy.
And I have to beg my Mom, Glenna and Grandy to
Please, Please, Please
make me a recipe card.

This is the sweetest idea. I'd love to pay tribute to my maternal-grandmother by framing some of her wonderful Southern Recipes. Would make great gifts for my family this coming Christmas. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Those are great! I have some of my grandmother's old recipe cards and that's a great way to display them, plus you can still use them to cook!
I love that you did this! When I got married, my mom framed the recipe she used to make us cookies after school everyday while growing up... it's faded, oil spotted, and well loved. I love having it sit on my kitchen counter and look forward to using it with my son when he gets older.
I LOVE this! I have my granmother's famous recipe for donuts that she wrote out for me. I have to do this.
love this idea....I have both of my grandmother's cookbooks...I've wanted to make a scrapbook/recipe book for so long using all their recipe cards...love having their handwriting and love seeing some of the ingredients on each card! :)

Love this idea! I was just telling my mother the other day that I want to frame my grandmother's recipes, but really had not thought of using scrapbook paper as a backing. It really does personalize it so much more.

husband was saying that hardly any of us "kids" meaning he & i know how to cook something like his mom or granny. this is a wonderful idea to help me learn all the old timey ways.
because it is a rare thing nowadays to get a hand written recipe card.
