Chatting with Charity ~ 20

Good morning!  Today, I am going to share something I shared on my personal Facebook page yesterday.  I showed a peek into my Real Life and I think it is something we need to be more intentional to do!  Whether it is on social media or in person we need to all agree to show the truth of our lives.  Now don't get me wrong we do not need to all become "Debbie Downers" and only ever talk about the bad!  But my thought is that if I don't show you the mess you can't appreciate the beauty of the end product.  This can be as simple as a home project or more importantly as deep as a difficult situation that you need prayer for!  If someone I know is struggling with something and they never share and I never come along side of them in prayer then I will not be able to fully celebrate with them in victory!  I want to live life with the people around me...Real Life!

Here is my Real Life post from yesterday ~

Just in case you were feeling that you are the ONLY one, I thought I would share.... This is the current state of flooring in one room of our house and there is still more mess to make, the check engine light is on in my car, and Jeremy's Blazer needs tires and a power steering something or another!  But you know what?  It is just life and those are just things.  I am choosing today to keep my eyes on God and not the mess!  He is the only one that matters!  He has perfect timing, protection, and provision.  If I were to list my blessings they would be too many to number but people complain that social media only shows off the good in people's lives. Well, here is today's messy. It does not change how much I love my life!

Adding Shelves to the China Cabinet

For the month of September I want to concentrate on one wall in my dinning room.  This is the wall with the china cabinet on it.  My goal for making this wall a priority is to have my dinning room finished in time for our Thanksgiving feast.  If you remember I started working on this room in the Summer during my Ten Task in Ten Days link party.  I am ready to get it finished.  This wall needs shelves to be hung and painted, wall paint to be touched up, empty frame to be worked on, shelves to be decorated, and a fall wreath to be made.  Oh and the best part shopping....I will need to shop  for some new pretties to add, things like.....
plate racks, platters, and extra dishes.

Here is what the wall looked like to begin with.

We hung shelves using the wooden shelf brackets I bought while Thrifting.
Then this weekend I got busy painting, I love the way they turned out and can't wait to get busy styling them.

I hope to touch up the the wall paint tomorrow and then on to the fun part.

The Heartfelt Homeschool Memo Board

Hi ladies!  Hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  I wanted to pop in quick and show you a project I finished last week.  I made cute memo board with our homeschool logo on it.  We are
The Heartfelt Homeschool

Trust me it did not come looking this cute.  It came from Goodwill for a couple of dollars.
It was dark and missing a hook.

I got busy and painted it cream and found a pattern I liked and printed it off.

Now stick with me because this next step is all high tech.....
I rubbed my pencil over the entire back of the printed paper.

Turned it over and traced the pattern onto my memo board.

I painted the pattern green and in the same way as above I trace Heartfelt onto the board and painted it orange.  At this point I was sick to death of this method and drug out some stickers and placed them on for "the" and "homeschool"

I traced around the stickers

and painted them black.

Now our school has a sign, it makes us happy.  Plus it is a great place to keep up with some of my sewing notions.

Our Homeschool Room

Well Lovelies
it is that time of year again,
the time where we are gearing up for another school year.
I thought I would give you a look at our
School Room
so you would know where our days will be spent.

This is our school desk, we built it ourselves.
If you are interested in seeing the process you can go here, here, and here

My favorite school supply to open each year is a new box of crayons
What is you favorite new school supply?

A few of the books the girls will be reading this year.

My supply side

Can you tell I have a love of buttons?

The best part of our mantel this Summer has been the sweet little birds nest we found.

The basket on top has all of our read aloud books and our Bible study and the vintage suitcases (from my childhood) store some of my sewing supplies.
You can tell I get in and out of the the bottom one often, I wish I had closed the latches.

The vintage picnic baskets have the girls sewing supplies in them.

I wish I could show the other wall with a pretty camel back sofa, but the sofa is sitting in the basement....
waiting... waiting.. on me to get the nerve up to either try to recover it myself or pay someone else to do it.
Maybe next year, ha.

Pinterest Challenge

Have you heard?
Heard about what you ask?
Well the Pinterest challenge of course!
It is a challenge were you take one of your pinned pictures and instead of just drooling over it you actually make it a reality in your home.
Well count me in.
As you all know I have been working on our family room and dining room since I did the 10 Task in 10 Days Challenge

I wanted to do a fabric covered table like the one above, to cover up my cubbie table (below).

I also wanted  my chinoiserie pictures to be the focal point of the dining room like the room above.

So here is my version.
The best part of it is that I still have easy access to all the cubbies underneath, which is necessary since that is where I store all my supplies for my shop

I still need to accessorize the top but that will take an entirely new pin board to figure out.

So for now I am very happy with it.
What do you think?

Come follow me on Pinterest if you want to see what I might be up to next.
And if you are not on Pinterest yet email me ( theheartfelthome@gmail.com ) and I will send you an invitation.

Piano Makeover

I thought I would show you how I updated my piano.  This piano has been in or family since I was a kid, at my grandparent's house.  It was painted a red-orange color then, with a dark red fabric behind the cut outs.  When it came to my house 6 years ago I painted it black and replace the red fabric with a tan.  I love it black but since I am making over my family room I felt like it needed a little sprucing up so I decided to change out the fabric.

Here is the before
You can read about the pictures over the piano here

I unlatched the front piece

and popped it off and removed the fabric

Here is what the inside of the piano looks like

I picked an off white duck cloth, and I love the "fresh" look it gave it.

I am so glad I changed it.
