Monopoly Birthday Party, sneak peek

Hi!
I thought I would stop by and show everyone what I am working on this week.
You see my oldest just turned 12 and we are having her party this coming weekend so we are busy, busy, busy.  Being a preteen now, she waned a "cool" party and came up with the idea of a Monopoly Birthday Party.
Here is a peek at our "cool" Monopoly Birthday Party

Can you see the game pieces, houses and hotels hanging from the chandelier.

I love how they look like they are floating in the air.

The shoe, I love the shoe.....well all shoes.

I covered a lamp shade with money

and made subway art out of all the property names (did you notice it was glittery)

Here is our collection of goodies to give out as people land on each spot.

Sweet little rings for each time someone gets money from CHANCE or COMMUNITY CHEST.

Plastic horse for KENTUCKY AVENUE

Water ballons for WATER WORKS.

Glow sticks for the ELECTRIC COMPANY.

Brush for winning a beauty contest.

Train earsers for each of the RAILROADS.

We still have a few more tricks up our sleeves and I will share more pictures after the party.

Sentimental Sunday #17, Birthday #8

Hi, I am bursting with excitement for this weeks Sentimental Sunday, because this week it is all about my girl--my freshly 8 year old girl.  My Baby turned 8 on Monday and we had a party to celebrate.  She called it a Country Living Tea Party, you can tell she is my daughter.  She wanted "fancy" country and everyone needed to dress fancy country to come to her fancy country party.  Lucky for us she was only inviting her two best girlfriends otherwise I do not know if I cold have gotten everyone one to follow the dress code.

Here is the fancy country spread of food

And fancy Summer Punch, served in my collection of vintage Mason Jars.

Here we are dressed in our fancy country outfits.
More about these outfits in a future post.

Here she is my sweet 8 year old.  She is full of passion, sass, spunk and love with a deep desire to nurture and comfort.

Here she is with her two best friends

they played horses like this for over an hour.
They could not even be tempted by cake or presents,
they were happy just being together playing.

I love this picture of my two girls enjoying one another and enjoying this moment.

And this picture, this picture is priceless, my baby and my grandmother.
I love and treasure this moment, I stopped and purposely tried to sear this memory into my brain permanently.

So this is what I am Sentimental about this week.

WHERE HAVE THE LAST 11 YEARS GONE?

This weekend we spent celebrating Big Sister's 11th birthday, and even though it is not her real birthday yet, I still can not believe it has been 11 years since I first held her tiny perfectness in my arms.  She wanted a 4th of July party, so we came to Ellijay to spend the weekend.  She and Little Sister made cupcakes.

Nana and Papa came to her party and she opened some of her presents, the rest will be saved for her real birthday.

After eating cupcakes we headed to downtown and set up to watch the parade.

The parade was very fun and we all loved celebrating our freedom.

After the parade we had 2 hours to pass before fireworks started, so our entertainer, Little Sister, got busy doing what she does best.  We were all a part of her show at one time or another.

And the the grand finale
an excellent fireworks show.

We all had a great day celebrating our Country and our Girl.

BIRTHDAY PARTY WRAP UP

Come on in an enjoy the party.  Little Sister colored this picture to decorate the front door for her party

The girls and I worked on this banner as our homeschool craft project for the week.  We cut out circles from scrapbook paper and flowers from a book.  Then we distresses the circles, flowers and cupcake liners with brown paint.  Up next we followed this awesome tutorial from the wonderfully talented Kim at Twice Remembered.  The only thing I did different was change the color of glitter.  After everthing dried we glued it together and ran a ribbon through.

We made these sweet birds nest out of the book pages.  One style was with shreeded pages soked in watered down craft glue molded to the outside bottom of an bowl.  The other style was made with three circle cut out of the pages dipped into the water-glue mix and placed over lapping on the bottom of a smaller bowl.  Then it took two days for them to dry out so that we could take them off.

We made Rice Krispey treat nest, with jellybean eggs and peeps for goody bags.  With the left over Rice Krispey treats we made a large nest.

I made the cake and added this cool edible easter grass to make a nest and added a cute bird.

Little Sister loved her party and I loved watching how excited she was over everything.  Thanks for letting me share with you.

SHE'S SEVEN

My Baby turned seven today, where has time gone.  I remember holding her for the first time and falling head over heals in love with her.  She is full of life and has a personality big enough to fill any room.  She is full of spunk and sass, but more than anything she is full of love.  To be loved by her is to be loved boldly and with great passion, she does not feel things lightly, she feels them to the core of her being and the world around her knows exaclty what she is feeling.  To make her smile brings happiness to your day and her desire to make you smile shows the true JOY she has in her heart.  Her joy comes from the love she has for her Savior and she will gladly tell you about Him, you don't even have to ask, it just spills out of her with out a thought.  She is my gift from God and I treasure her.

Birthday Party Inspiration

Little Sister's birthday is coming up soon.  I had been trying to come up with an idea for it, when I got the

 wonderful package from Susie.

Suddenly I knew the theme...

Vintage Birds

Little Sister loves birds and has collected feathers for years, so it made perfect sense.

The first thing we did was transform the dining room chandelier.

The girls and I cut birds out of  book pages and scrapbook paper.

Next, we used some brown paint to add detail and  age to them.

Then a little glue and glitter and we had the...

beginnings of a vintage bird birthday party.

We have many more plans for this party and I will be sharing them over the next few weeks.
