A Peek Into My NOT So Glamorous Life

Perfect I am
Not.

Many of my friends and I have talked about how other peoples lives seem so much more put together-more "perfect" than our own.

Well, I am here to pull the curtain back on my not perfect life.

My house is not clean

My laundry is not done

My dinner is not planned

My kid is not well

Today, got up and started my coffee

Most days this happens between 5:00 and 5:30

I put more wood on the fire,so the house will be warm when everyone else starts getting up.

Then on to my favorite part of my day.
(anyone else love these books?)

There are piles of laundry to be done today

A dishwasher to unload and reload

Projects to work on

A sick kid to snuggle with

A new member of the family to teach not to get onto the furniture and knock over stuff

Crafts to finish

A child to teach

Even now I have some how managed to make it all look some what pretty,
But I want to be real

and to be

REAL

means I will show you what life really looks like

There are lots projects to do

more project waiting there turn

My beautiful school desk is taken over with projects

my family room taken over by a sick kid and my dinning room full of even more projects

This might even be the look I am faced with while I teach her today.
So please NEVER look at my life and think it is all neat and tidy,
Because it is NOT.
There is mess before beauty
and because I like beauty I am willing to live through the mess.
God is revealing to me that this is also a truth that applies to other areas of my life,
seldom do growth and beauty come without a little mess.
I hope to learn to embrace the mess as much as I do the beauty.

this brought tears...why? I also laughed along with the pics because my house looks SO similar!
we are all His messy beauties aren't we? I LOVE that you took a risk...there is connection in that risk.
let's me and you go stand underneath buckets of his grace water for a bit...doesn't that sound fun?
and yes...I love those books..we really should do a book club!

I love the fact that you're day begins pretty much the same as mine. I also love the fact that you are the third or fourth blogger this week to tell me that you're home is not perfect. I thought I was the only one out there who was floundering around and falling short on the perfectly kept house & orderly life. I also love your perspective. I struggled to learn that we must have the trials in order to grow stronger. And of course those trials are usually messy. Thank you for blessing me with this post today. Thank you for letting us know that you are human and your home isn't picture perfect, and for helping me to change my perspective on the mess. God can take a mess and make it -or me ;) - and make it a thing of beauty. Nothing, or no one is an impossibility for him.

If we all were so BRAVE enough to show the truth behind the screens that we all sit behind.
Right now I am eating a Milky Way(BC I am craving chocolate ((female thang))in my comfy clothes.I also have laundry sitting in the living room as well.

One day at a time. God will bless the mess!

That was so poignant, the way you showed "the big picture" after the neat & tidy shots. Sort of like how God looks into our hearts and sees it all, even when we try to live through telephoto lenses sometimes... very thought provoking. Thank you!

Aww, too bad your life isn't glamorous. Mine is, so you might as well go ahead and start being jealous...=)

Thank you for letting us in on your "little secret." Sometimes, it is easy to get discouraged by thinking that everyone else out in blog land seem to have perfect lives. You made me feel better in an odd sort of way. Hope that your little one feels better soon. BTW, I just found your blog and love your posts...keep them coming, and thank you.

Great post! Sometimes we all have to remember that even though we love the pretty, the real is pretty too, just in a different way! It tells the story of a life well lived and people well loved and things well enjoyed. All good, my friend, all good!

Ahhh, mess before beauty. That seems to be the tagline of my life right now...

Hope your girl feels better soon.

Love your transparency in this post. It is so easy to get caught up trying to create the picture perfect home life. So nice to see the Cha Cha I love so much is just as human as the chaos I call "Me".

Lots of love to you sweet lady!

So glad that you are real! I think that many of us manage to scoot the messes out of the way before we take pictures for our blogs...messes just don't make for cute pictures. But real life is not all perfect and primped, I love it when bloggers "pull back the curtain", and show how life really happens at home! At our house, I don't think that things ever stay neat for more than a few minutes! :)
