Chatting with Charity ~ 11

Love thy Neighbor

Confess Your Sins and Pray for One
Another...

Our Sunday school class just finished studying the book of James. I love the book of James and have studied it often but this time one verse stood out to me
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16
One morning after class I was sitting in my quiet time and felt God convicting me of something. Recently, I stepped out in faith and started the next phase of my business. I knew that it was God's call and my husband and I had prayed and were 100% in agreement before I made the decision. That morning I knew I had been walking in sin and not trusting God fully with the financial side of the decision, I was filled with fear often. I prayed and confessed this sin to God. Later that day I was headed to my friend Kelly's house for lunch. The whole way to her house the verse from James kept running through my head. I knew when I got to her house I need to confess my sins to her and have her pray for me. I got to her house and almost immediately told her what I was going through and asked her to pray for me. It was not easy to admit in the beginning but the more words I said the easier it got. She then confessed some fears that she was having and we started praying for each other. Since that day we have held each other up in prayer and each walked in greater freedom from our fears. Today, I want to encourage you to Love Thy Neighbor by being open and sharing...even the hard stuff, love them enough to trust them. I believe when we are open it gives others the confidence to be open with us. I would have never had the opportunity to come beside her in prayer if I had not first been open and vulnerable. Also, if you do not have a friend that you feel safe to do this with, I encourage you to pray for one and start being the friend that you desire!
