Christmas Time Is Here

I have been so excited to start decorating for Christmas.
I love pulling all the boxes out and going through memories as I unwrap each of  the decorations.
It is always a time of reflection on how far our little family has come and the memories we have made.
I started this year by decorating  my mantle.

The first thing I did was make my Book Page Wreath, after it was finished I added the Merry Christmas sign from last years Christmas wreath.
Then thanks to my beautiful magnolia tree
I had great greenery to fill my antique butter churn and pot.
With a few candle and berries added my mantle is now ready for Christmas..

And these fabulous stockings have been a dream of mine for a couple of years.
I was tired of the ones we had and when Hubby even said I should make new ones,
I knew this was the year.
So, I dug out my sewing machine and after a night with no sleep
these are the stockings we will be using for years to come.
I think they are worth a little sleep deprivation, don't you?.
I am still on the look out for the perfect beaded letters to hang from the hook with them,
Just so Santa doesn't get confused trying to guess which stocking belongs to which person.

I love that Hubby's is nice and manly
and the girls and I have sweet frilly ones.

Oh, by the way I got the awesome bottle brush tree at the Country Living Fair,
I love the vintage feel it adds.

I hope to have my dinning room table ready to show you in a day or two.
Happy Decorating.

Sentimental Sunday #5

                                                                                 Here we are
time for another Sentimental Sunday.
This has by far become my favorite part of blogging,
I love reading each and everyone of your post
they inspire me to look harder at what is around me and find beauty in all that I see.
Your writing has made me cry and made me laugh and I treasure both,
so thank you to each of you who have joined in so far.
If you haven't joined in, I hope you do in the near future,
I would love to know how you decorate with the things that are important to you.

This week I have decided to share with you some sweet little jade eggs.

These eggs were a gift from My Ms Betty, she is a dear friend who I adore.
Her aunt collects jade and had shared some pieces with her and she in turn shared these three eggs with me one year for my birthday.  I have treasured them from day one, they are one of only a few decorations that I have in my bedroom (like so many of you our master bedroom is last on the to do list).  They sit on the dresser under a glass dome and I love looking at them every time I stand there to get ready.

Each of the eggs are hand painted

with flowers and a bird.

Thank you Betty for thinking of me and sharing your inheritance with me,
it is an honor to have them.

Sentimental Sunday #4 Highlight

I am happy to show off this weeks Sentimental Sunday Highlight,
Theresa, from All is Well

First, I have to thank Theresa for her kind words and support of Sentimental Sunday.

Now on to the good stuff...

Check out this cute plaque that here daughter made.

Each of her kids made one.

Look how she so cleverly hung them together.

Hung together it looks so amazing,

and how wonderful to have them hanging as a memory of a day spent together and a time in their lives.

Love It.

Book Page Wreath

I have been planning to make a book page wreath for a long time,
well today I made it happen.

I used some scrap cardboard

and cut out a ring.

Roll the pages into cone shapes.

Then glue the pages onto the ring.

add a second layer.

I love how it turned out,
oh did I mention I punched the corners.
It adds a nice "lacey" detail.

I am linking at

Christmas Card Inspiration Party

Photobucket

Today I am going to let you lovelies in on a little secret about me....

I love Christmas cards.

I get excited each and every time I open one

and my goal is for our Christmas card to be the first one everyone gets in the mail.

I try to have our cards done, addressed and in the mail the Friday morning after Thanksgiving,

I drop them off at the post office while I am out shopping.

So with my love of cards I decided why not see what you lovelies send out.

So, starting Monday November 15th, I am having a  Christmas card link up party.  It will run until Christmas day, so don't feel rushed.

You can link up this years, past years or even the funny attempts that did not make it onto a card.

I can not wait to see your cards and hear the stories behind them.

Merry Christmas, oh wait is it too early to say that

PS. If you have a great card and no blog email them to me jjones523@gmail.com
and I will get them on, just be sure to put Christmas Card Party in the subject.

*** update just lined up a great give away for those who link up or comment or tweet***
Can't wait to tell you what it is.

Best Idea Ever

Have you ever been so moved by an idea that you can't wait for it to happen?

Well that is what happened to me this morning as I sat at my computer, early--way early, unable to sleep.

I was getting ready to write a new post for this weekend when I accidentally scrolled down,

I am so happy I scrolled down because when I did I found where Christy from

Had linked up her friend Mary's Thanksgiving tablecloth.

This tablecloth for me is what Sentimental Sunday is all about.

The short version is that she has a king size sheet that she uses every year at Thanksgiving and everyone who is there signs it later she goes over their writing with embroidery thread.

Melt my heart

Please go and read the full post and let Mary and Christy know how much you love it,

I know you will love it,

then come back and tell me if you are crying and heading to the store to buy a king size sheet, I am.

I am Thankful

As Thanksgiving draws near.

I wanted my girls to do a craft project on being thankful.

We took a different approach

and decided we are most thankful for God

and who He is.

So, our project is based on the attributes of God.

We started with a clear vase and some milk glass pieces we had,

filled with acorns from our yard and apples.

Next we found some sticks from our yard and put them in the vase.

We traced and cut out leaves from scrapbook paper.

Looked up verses from the Bible for attributes that started with each letter of THANKFUL.

Wrote them on our leaves

and tied the leaves to the sticks.

Ta Da, Thanksgiving center piece.

My friend Debra wants you to know you could just cut the center out of a paper plate and staple the leaves on, if you are not crazy like me, wait did I mention I spray painted the sticks--like I said crazy like me.

Hope you are Thankful today.
